Mike Wilson Talks Injuries

JM: What's your worst skiing injury?
Mike Wilson: I had a minor series of injuries that led up to the worst condition I've been in (bone threw heels, 3 partial tears in knees, 3 broken vertebrae, collapsed lung, broken thumb) but as a single injury none of them are that terrible.
JM: How did you help your injury?
Mike Wilson: Tons of super intense physical therapy. I always kept my head up. Never saw it as a bad thing, just an inconvenience and double my doctors recommended workout for physical therapy he said 4 hours on bike I did 8 he said 2 I did 4.
JM: Did you recieve any type of massage to help reduce your condition.
Mike Wilson: Only physical therapy on my knees. A lot of it was ultrasound, and massage with heat or cold
JM: Is this injury still affect you riding wise?
Mike Wilson: Only that I've never appreciated skiing as much as I do now and I'm a lot smarter I don't do dumb sh*t anymore. And mentally altogether I see things a different way I now approach skiing as a job, not as a hobby I get paid for.
JM: Was the injury contraindicated/indicated for massage?
Mike Wilson: No, while I was hurt all I did was rehabmassage was good for parts, but not for all of the injuries.
JM: And what about participating in events?
Mike Wilson: No events until it was better; I skied for 2 months and did more rehab before I skied in an event.
JM: Thanks so much for yout time.
Mike Wilson: No prob.
