Adam Lynam Interview
By: Roussel
Roussel: What you been up to during the off season?
Lynam: I've been spending a ton of time surfing. I spent a month in stone harbor NJ this summer and cought some sick waves... I'm starting to gear up for this coming winter though, I'm very stoked.
Roussel: What where some of the highlights for you last season?
Lynam: Oh wow.... I had the best 9 days of my entire life last winter... Ben Wannamaker, Simmons, and John Hartley from Kreation and myself went to Whistler to shoot for BentFilms new video White Dwarf. All of the riders there took the sport to rediculous new levels, incorperating inline style grinds into skiboarding. We got some insane footage so be on the lookout for White Dwarf. after a week in Whistler we spent a few days with Tibor from Canon Skiboards in Vancouver and just toured the city. Besides British Columbia, I placed very well in some twin tip competitions, 3rd place at the Tussey Big Air, 3rd place at the Blue Mountain Big Air, and first place in the Blue Mountain Rail Jam
Roussel: Nice, got anything planned for next season?
Lynam: Nothing yet... I hope to make it to some of the ISF events, and hopefully just progress in both skiing and skiboarding.
Roussel: ALright now we'll move on to questions SBMag readers sent in...Have u ever been hurt badly when skiboarding?
Lynam: Yeah I've been worked skiboarding... when I was 16, I over rotated a backflip and cleared the entire landing... I landed square on my ass and suffered a severe hip contusion... I couldnt walk for a few days... Like an idiot I went to Mt. Snow about 2 weeks later during the X-Games. I took medicine so I could ride without pain. I was going about mach 5 down a slope on Carinthia and hit a bump, when I landed I was leaning way to far forward and tried to tuck and roll. Unfourtunately I was going to fast and rolled right onto my shoulder, breaking my collarbone... I was out for the season, but I came back strong that summer at Camp of Champions, and from it I got sponsored by Canon. I learned quite a bit from my mistakes however.... and haven't been injured since.
Roussel: Sick, what's your best trick and what trick do you like the most?
Lynam: This season I dialed in corked sevens, but I think my best tricks are my grinds. My favorite trick to do is probably an underflip liu kang.
Roussel: What do you like best, rails, jumps or pipe?
Lynam: I like terrain parks... rails and jumps... I'm not to facinated by pipe, but I ride it on occasion if its looking good.
Roussel: Where do you see the sport going in the next 5 years or so?
Lynam: That's hard to say... I really wish I could say that its going to blow up and were all going to be rock stars... but realisticly I think that the sport is going to be left up to the people who are in it for the love. We need to support core companies like Canon, the ISF and SkiboardsOnline.
Roussel: Marley asked, what your favorite kind of turkey baster is?
Lynam: Hahahahahahaha...... Well tell "Marley" that when theres no funnel around, a turkey baster is the next best thing!
Roussel: Baiey asked why are you the only one in the world who doesnt think bailey mitchell is sexy?
Lynam: Uhhhhh... I don't swing that way!
Roussel: Alright, we're done, any last words or sout outs?
Lynam: Live to ride and ride to live.... Whether its two boards or one... To anyone who has helped me progress, thanks. To Ben Wannamaker, what can I say man.... The best is yet to come, good luck with your flick...Thanks to Tibor from Canon Skiboards, Greco from SkiboardsOnline, anyone who has ever let me stay at their house, and Whistler for being something to look forward to.
