Core from the North: Loken Industries
Date: 20/12/04
By: Roussel

New companies seem to be popping up around like buds in spring, and to add to the this skiboarding renewal we might be seeing another skiboarding core company hitting shelves soon. Ola Loken Karlsnes is the founder of Norwegian company; Loken Industries.

Developed in Norway and manufactured in Austria the four models which are in the works all have extruded bases, poly-laminated wood-cores, standard 4x4 mounting pattern and come with graphite bindings.

Here are the four models they are working on with specs:

Stark
Lenght: 98 cm
Width: 124/102/124 mm
Tail/Tip Height: 45/45 mm

CMO
Lenght: 92 cm
Width: 130/110/130 mm
Tail/Tip Height: 45/45 mm

CT6
Lenght: 99 cm
Width: 124/102/124 mm
Tail/Tip Height: 45/45 mm

Skreem
Lenght: 97 cm
Width: 124/102/124 mm
Tail/Tip Height: 45/45 mm

Click here to view an old picture of three of the boards, the picture shows the boards with non-standard 8-hole binding but the new models however do have the standard 4x4 mounting pattern. There is also a mention of a team rider pictured in the image called Marius Mikkelsen

From the measurements and symmetrical shape of the boards it's obvious these are aggressive boards and have some interesting dimensions that have not really been touched by previous skiboard companies.

So when will the boards be able to be bought? Well so far Loken Industries does not have the means to start mass producing. They are hoping to get help from a Norwegian state owned fund for industrial companies. If they do they hope to be on the market by Fall 2005.

If you want to contact Loken industries (and maybe buy a pair from their very limited stock) just E-mail Ola Lokan Karisnes at Ola-Loken.Kalsnes@telenor.com.
